Here are some key steps to take if you are involved in a car accident.

Safety first, is everyone okay?

Move your vehicle off the road (if possible), stop the car, apply handbrake and switch on your hazard lights. 

Carefully approach any other vehicle that was involved and check if anyone is injured.
Call emergency services on 000 if help is required. 

Details to obtain for an insurance claim

If you are involved in a accident you must stop and exchange details.
If anyone refuses to provide their details, contact the Police. 

Incident details

  • Date of incident
  • Location – street names, cross streets, suburb 
  • Any witness’s name and phone number

Other diver/vehicle

  • Full name of driver
  • Rsidential address
  • Registration number 
  • Phone number 
  • Driver’s licence number 

Is your car safe to drive, do you need a tow?

If your car is not safe to drive and you require a tow truck please contact us on (08) 9349 7900, we can assist in arranging a tow truck for you.
If it is outside of business hours, we recommend the below towing companies:

  • AAAC Towing – 08 9352 5000
  • Swan Towing – 08 9484 5000

Remember, you are not obliged to use the first tow truck on the scene. 

Do you need to advise WA Police?

According to WA Police you must report a traffic crash when the incident occurred on a road or in a carpark and where:

  • The incident resulted in bodily harm to a person; or
  • If the total value of property damage to all involved parties is going to exceed $3000; or
  • The owner or representative of the damaged property isn’t present
