Centrewest celebrates 35 years in business

General, news

This year Centrewest is celebrating the exciting milestone of 35 years in business.

Our Managing Director, Rick Post reflects on how the company has changed and grown over this time.

Centrewest was founded by Joe Barbaro and Greg Milner on 19th October 1987, coincidently the same day as the notorious Black Monday stock exchange crash. Despite the economic uncertainty during their first week of trading, Joe & Greg decided to continue with their new venture and 35 years later Centrewest is still going.

Rick joined Centrewest in October 2002 along with, Geoff Pratt. The company only had eight staff at that time, and has since grown to a team of 45 today. Fellow partners Gavin Statham and Daniel Gaensler joined in 2015.

Over the past three decades, the company has built an impressive portfolio of clients across a range of different industries. “The business has grown tremendously over this time, starting with zero clients in 1987 and now having a book of approximately 6000 clients today,“ said Rick.

Rick credits much of that growth and success to the team. “We have always focused on getting the right people, not just for our own team but also the right people for our clients. Everybody works really well together,” he said.

When asked what he is most proud of, Rick shared “From a business perspective it’s Centrewest’s people, culture and values. These things matter, and I think our clients recognise the passion that we have.”

And from a personal perspective, Rick is the most proud that he dared to have a go at something he never thought he would do – and that is owning and operating a business.
